"Dear Carol,
I am interested in Wm Snoddy and Elizabeth Alexander's daughter Margaret. I believe she might be Pleasant Duke Alexander's wife. Margaret Alexander was born in 1814. I believe I have found information on her mother's line. I can't find Pleasant in that line. I can't seem to find information about her at all. What I read on your web sight would put her in Texas and might explain why I can't find any marriage between Snoddy and Alexander. Do you have any suggestions as to avenues I might pursue? Your information has certainly be helpful. I am headed to Texas later this week and want to use the resources that are available...if only I knew what I needed to use!!!
Thanks again for the website!

ALEXANDER et al.
v.
HOUGHTON et al.
Court of Civil Appeals of Texas.
June 13, 1894.

Appeal from district court, Runnels county; W. J. Wingate, Judge.
Trespass to try title by S. Alexander, Elizabeth A. Cawlfield, and John G. Cawlfield against John H. Houghton and John H. Robinson. From a judgment for defendants, plaintiffs appeal. Affirmed.

Action of trespass to try title, brought on the 15th day of February, 1892, by appellants, S. Alexander, Elizabeth A. Cawlfield, and John G. Cawlfield against appellees, John H. Houghton and John H. Robinson, to recover 640 acres of land patented to E. W. Bull on the 28th day of April, 1873, situated in Runnels county. Defendants, on the 7th day of March, 1892, filed a general denial and plea of not guilty; pleaded specially, claiming title to the land by five years' limitation; praying for judgment for the land. On the 22d day of October, 1892, plaintiffs filed their first supplemental petition, demurring to the answer, denying the same, and specially setting up the coverture of their mother, under whom they claim, in reply to the plea of limitation. The court, trying the case without a jury, rendered judgment for defendants, from which plaintiffs have appealed. The facts are as follows: E. W. Bull, the patentee of the land, died in 1838, leaving E. M. Bull, his widow, surviving him, who, six months after his death, gave birth to a child, which died at the age of six months, leaving its mother, E. M. Bull, its sole heir, and sole heir of E. W. Bull. E. M. Bull married again, in 1843, one Pleasant D. Alexander, of which marriage were born plaintiffs S. Alexander and Elizabeth A. Cawlfield. Other children were born of the marriage, but died in early infancy. Pleasant D. Alexander died January 25, 1883, and E. M. Alexander, the owner of the land, never married again, and died January 16, 1891, leaving plaintiffs S. Alexander and E. A. Cawlfield her sole heirs. Defendants read in evidence, over plaintiffs' objections, from the record of deeds of Runnels county, a deed by Sam Maverick to H. and W. H. Paddleford, conveying the E. W. Bull 640-acre survey, of date March 10, 1880, which was filed for record in Runnels county on March 22, 1883. The certificate of acknowledgment to the deed was as follows: "The State of Texas, Runnels County. Before me, Geo. W. Caldwell, a notary public in and for said county, on this day personally appeared Sam Maverick, to me well known to be the person whose name is subscribed to the foregoing instrument, and acknowledged to me that he executed the same for the purposes and considerations therein expressed. Given under my hand and seal of office this 5th of June, 1882. Geo. W. Caldwell, Notary Public, Bexar Co., Texas." Defendants read in evidence a deed by H. and W. H. Paddleford to A. H. Webb, conveying the land in controversy, of date May 29, 1884, filed for record in Runnels county on June 12, 1884 also, a deed of... (this information provided by Kathy Patrick
